Estate and Probate Administration Paralegal Role:
In this role our Paralegal specializing in Estate and Probate Administration plays a critical part in the smooth and efficient management of estate matters, ensuring compliance with legal processes while providing excellent client service.
Prepare and file probate applications to initiate the administration of estates.
Communicate with clients to gather necessary details and provide guidance throughout the process.
Coordinate the execution of legal documents, including proofs of will and other necessary filings.
Schedule hearings with clients and the court, ensuring all parties are properly prepared.
Draft key legal documents, including Waivers and Notices, to ensure smooth proceedings.
Handle post-hearing paperwork, ensuring proper filing and follow-up with clients on necessary next steps.
Manage the creditor notice process and ensure timely publication as required by law.
Prepare and file inventory documents or affidavits in lieu, as needed.
Heirship Proceedings:
Draft and file applications for heirship proceedings, ensuring that all necessary legal steps are followed.
Engage with clients to collect essential information and provide updates on proceedings.
Prepare documents such as motions to appoint attorneys ad litem and coordinate execution of required filings.
Work with witnesses to ensure service and publication requirements are met.
Coordinate hearings, scheduling appointments with clients, witnesses, and the court.
Handle Notices of Hearing and communicate details to all involved parties.
File and execute final legal documents post-hearing, ensuring all filings are complete.
Assist in the creditor notice process and draft necessary inventory filings.
Coordinate bond procurement when required, ensuring timely execution and delivery.
Prepare and record Executor Deeds and Affidavits of Heirship electronically.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of county-specific e-filing requirements, ensuring compliance across all jurisdictions.
General Administrative Support
Conduct regular meetings with attorneys to review the progress of estate cases and ensure deadlines are met.
Track key deadlines (e.g., hearings, inventory submissions) and ensure all dates are accurately maintained on the firm’s activity chart.
Assist with closing estate files, including preparing closing letters to clients and ensuring all necessary documents are filed.
Provide backup support for Estate Planning matters when needed, including drafting and assisting with signings.
Estate and Probate Administration Paralegal Background Profile:
Proven experience as a paralegal in estate and probate administration, preferably in Texas.
Strong knowledge of probate law and legal procedures in estate administration.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a client-focused approach.
Proficiency in legal software and tools used for document management and e-filing.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, supporting attorneys and clients alike.
