Job Duration: 10 weeks
Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, 5x8hr shifts, every other weekend, holidays as applicable
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care facility
License: New Jersey State License
Certifications: Must meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination
Must-Have:
- Ability to work independently in emergency room and trauma situations
- Operating Room (OR) experience
- Portable x-ray experience
- Pediatric experience
Job Description:
- Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, utilizing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
- Restrict radiation exposure by using beam restricting devices, ensuring non-exposure to unaffected parts.
- Perform portable x-ray examinations in various settings, including patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Follow procedures for identifying films with patient information and accurately marking the side of the patient.
- Develop exposed x-ray films through available processing methods.
- Complete patient requisitions and maintain thorough records, including technologist initials, dates, and film details.
- Maintain an orderly x-ray room as directed by departmental head.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administering it to patients.
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, record maintenance, and patient reception.
- Assist patients with varying needs in moving, turning, and getting on and off x-ray tables.
- Demonstrate physical capabilities by lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Identify and address the specific needs of the patient population served, adapting care to accommodate age, cultural, and communication needs.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards.
