McMillen, Inc is currently seeking a Senior Regulatory and Natural Resources Consultant to join our Hydropower Licensing and Natural Resources team. Primary responsibilities will be to provide support to a team of regulatory experts, scientists, and engineers to prepare hydropower licensing, permitting and compliance documents, perform consultation with agency and stakeholder groups, and support project management activities in accordance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements. Other key responsibilities include providing project support for hydropower licensing activities, organization and coordination of complex documents, management of deliverables, and collaboration with clients, in-house project staff and sub-contractors.
The preferred location for this position is in Seattle, Boise, or Portland, but will consider remote or hybrid arrangements depending on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work effectively as part of a team of regulatory experts, environmental scientists, and engineers on water resources projects.
- Exhibit excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including the ability to coordinate and interact with coworkers, clients and project stakeholders. Examples of specific tasks include authoring project licensing documents, preparing meeting minutes, presentation materials, and providing meeting support.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify project needs, take initiative, work independently, seek solutions, and implement recommendations.
- Successfully balance multiple tasks in a deadline-driven work environment and in coordination with staff located across multiple office locations.
- Pay close attention to details and maintain a high level of organization.
- Serve as project manager for regulatory, environmental, and permitting projects and function as a task leader on larger projects.
- Contribute to research and business development efforts for other regulatory and natural resources staff and regional marketing teams as requested.
- Collaborate effectively with the water resources team and gain the confidence and trust of others through the execution of high-quality work products.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in FERC hydropower licensing, permitting, and/or other NEPA related work; consulting experience preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree is required in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Public/Environmental Policy or other Natural Science.
- Background with a natural resource focus (fisheries, water resources, terrestrial, etc.) preferred.
- Experience managing natural resource study programs.
- Technical writing, document management, and administrative experience are required.
- Experience with MS Office Suite is required, experience with GIS software is a plus.
Compensation Package:
- Pay Range: $105,000 - $135,000 annual
