We are currently seeking a Mine Engineer for our client, a well-established mining operation, to support the Ore Control and short-range mine planning functions. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive engineer with a solid background in open-pit mining.
Key Responsibilities of Mine Engineer:
- Ore Control: Perform daily ore/waste delineation by analyzing blast hole assays and geological data to determine material designations.
- Mine Progress Monitoring: Track and document mining progress on a daily basis, ensuring accurate reporting of material mined.
- Mine Material Accounting: Prepare and maintain daily and monthly mine reports, tracking sulfide, silicate ore, leach material, and waste.
- Dispatch Checks: Review and validate daily dispatch load records, making corrections as needed.
- Short-Term Mine Planning: Develop and maintain a rolling three-week mine and leach/dump plan, including stockpile tracking and planning.
- Special Projects: Plan and execute special engineering projects as required by the team.
- Monthly Reconciliation: Ensure adherence to previous mine plans through monthly reconciliation and reporting.
- Production Information Management: Develop and maintain production data to ensure accurate engineering forecasting and decision-making.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teams across departments—Geology, Hydrology, Technical Services, Drilling and Blasting Engineers, and Maintenance—to ensure smooth operations and alignment with mine plans.
- Risk Management: Identify and communicate potential risks to the organization, providing regular project status updates.
Required Skills and Abilities for Mine Engineer:
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and consensus-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritize competing demands.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, AutoCAD, MineSight, and Modular Mining Dispatch.
- Knowledge of MSHA, state, and environmental regulations is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in an open-pit mining environment.
- Experience with short-range mine planning and ore control is highly desirable.
