ACET is seeking a Depot Level Expert Structural Technician at our Miramar, CA location.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Performs maintenance and modifies aircraft structures and structural components.
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
- Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, drawings or manufactures' manuals.
- Prioritizes workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Responsible for providing guidance, training and technical expertise to All ACET Team Members throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts for skill progression and cross training.
- Ability to work various shifts and travel to support customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have twelve (12) years’ DEPOT structural experience on H53 aircraft or similar rotary wing aircraft. FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification and relevant civilian aircraft experience may be substituted.
- Must be able to perform and supervise DEPOT level structural aircraft maintenance functions, provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.
- Prior Quality Control/Assurance preferred.
- Must be skilled/qualified in Naval Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services.
- Must be able to utilize blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and manufacturers’ drawings and sketches in the performance of assigned duties.
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of sheet metal functions to include but not limited to drilling, riveting, installing hi-locks, huck-bolt and cherry max fasteners, making and installing panels, skin patches and installing chin bubbles.
- Must be able to read and write, interpret and comply with aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, directives, guides and forms used on the job.
- Must be able to perform troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and aircraft systems and aircraft sub-systems.
- Must be able to demonstrate an expert knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, and component parts.
- Must be able to detect, prevent and treat corrosion.
- Must have knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance.
- Must be able to complete maintenance documentation accurately as required by job assignment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the level of Industrial Security Clearance required by the Government.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required clearance for Common Access Card (CAC).
Preferred Qualification(s):
- Extensive Depot level repair experience, which includes the repair of components, airframes, or end items.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds independently.
- Must be able to pass fit for work physical and/or drug test as required.
- Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, to include working overhead. Position requires sitting and/or standing at workbenches and wire boards 99% of the day.
- Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flightline.
- Must be able to man and perform Flightline Extinguisher duties.
- If required must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate Powered Industrial Trucks.
- If required must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 - 4 hours.
- If required must be able to perform confined space activities.
- Position requires repetitive hand use using wire cutters, crimpers, etc.
- Travel may be required.
