Job Description Summary
The LPN - School-Based Telepresenter reports to the Nurse Manager of School-Based Telehealth. Under indirect supervision, the Telepresenter utilizes telemedicine equipment (exam camera, otoscope, stethoscope, and video conference) to present the patient to providers at MUSC or in the local community. This position provides administrative support to the School-Based Telehealth program in assigned locations. This role attends school and community events to promote the program and engage in public health efforts through school and community programing and identifies high-risk students. This position serves as a care coordinator, which includes directing families to resources such as Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, home energy assistance, and other community assistance programs. The position covers schools in Charleston and the surrounding counties and is an in-person role.

Job Description
- Work closely with school nurses to identify students who would benefit from the program.
- Prepare the telehealth room, patient room and equipment for examination.
- Test and check equipment to ensure safe working order.
- Establish connection with the remote provider with sufficient time to troubleshoot any technical issues.
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed about the telehealth visit and expectations about the visit.
- Anticipate exam requirements, including appropriately positioning and preparing of the patient for physical examination
- Telepresent patients to connecting clinician.
- Document clinical information in the patient's electronic medical record to include patient vital signs.
- Administer medications as ordered by the telemedicine provider.
- Complete CLIA waived POC testing as ordered by telemedicine provider.
- Review any instructions or information conveyed during the tele-encounter by the remote evaluating provider after the session has concluded.
- Serve as student and family advocate and care coordinator, identifying and connecting families to needed resources.
- Collaborate with school faculty and staff to identify and screen students to participate in the telehealth program.
Additional Job Description
Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program. Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
