We are seeking a hands-on Director to lead a mechanical engineering team in developing innovative, first-to-market products. These products use a variety of directed energy sources such as laser, ultrasound, and radio-frequency devices. The mechanical team is responsible for designing chassis, thermal management systems, and precision mechanical assemblies that enable these advanced technologies to improve patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of innovation, the ability to lead and inspire a team, and experience guiding product designs through all stages of development. This role offers the opportunity to drive innovation at both the component and system levels in a collaborative R&D environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers to develop innovative and cost-effective designs.
- Manage team workflow across projects, including proof-of-concept, product development, and sustaining engineering.
- Maintain and develop industry-leading tools like CAD software, FEA software, and 3D printing.
- Contribute technically to new system architectures and design solutions.
- Help improve product development processes, focusing on quality, speed, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of product development experience.
- 4+ years of experience managing a team of engineers.
- A proven record of successful product launches from proof-of-concept through pilot production.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and material properties of metals, ceramics, and plastics.
- Extensive experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and GD&T.
- Skills in structural analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and multi-physics simulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to drive projects to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medical device development or biomedical applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of electronics and optics is a plus.
