Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (06:45 - 15:15)
Guaranteed Hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without paying for the canceled hours. If Candidates are placed on-call in lieu of being called off, that will count as a called-off shift.
Experience: Minimum 3 years required; teaching hospital experience preferred; Trauma Level I experience required.
License: Not required for this role. Must be in the state 3 business days prior to compliance for fingerprinting requirements.
Certifications: BLS required, CST preferred.
Must-Have:
- Experience in General OR, Teaching Hospital, Trauma.
- Skills in Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) Cases such as Direct Laryngoscopy, Radial neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy.
- Skills in Endoscopic Procedures like Colonoscopy, EGD, Peg tube placement/exchange.
- Skills in General Surgery such as Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection - Open/LAP, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total.
- Gynecology Case Skills: Abdominal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior repair, Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, Vaginal Hysterectomy.
- Neurosurgery Case Skills: Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion.
- Oral Case Skills: Repair of fractured jaws, mandibular and zygomatic.
- Orthopedic Case Skills: Arthroscopy, Arthrotomy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed/Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy.
- Plastic Surgery Case Skills: Free Flap - Microvascular.
- Trauma Case Skills: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries).
- Urology Skills: Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Nephrectomy, Ureteroscopy.
- Emergency management Skills: Fire Safety.
- Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies Skills: Drills (multiple types), Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords.
- Professional Knowledge and Skills: Aseptic Technique, Isolation Precautions, Radiation Safety, Sharps Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure.
Job Description:
- Perform as a surgical technologist in a Level I trauma center.
- Assist in a wide range of surgeries in various specialties.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and follow safety protocols.
- Fill the role within the surgery team effectively and efficiently.
- Support in emergency and trauma cases requiring surgical intervention.
- Float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs.
- Collaborate with medical staff and adapt to scheduling needs.
- Meet all necessary pre-employment compliance and orientation requirements.
