Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the level three Information Technology Specialist position and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
As the C1 Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) and Tier 1 specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting Special Access Programs (SAPs) within the Space Systems Command (SSC) mission areas. This position is integral to maintaining the security and integrity of highly sensitive information, providing "day-to-day" operational support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) activities. You will ensure that security protocols are meticulously followed, while also offering expert guidance and oversight in a dynamic and high-stakes environment. Your expertise will be essential in safeguarding critical information assets and ensuring compliance with stringent security standards.
Skills / Experience Required
- Hold and maintain a current DoD Active Top Secret clearance w/ SCI Eligibility
- 4+ years of experience in an SAP/SCI environment, with at least 3 years of specialized SAP-related experience preferred
- Must be willing to consent to and successfully complete a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph
- 6-8 years of relevant experience is required
- Review, prepare, and update AIS accreditation packages to ensure compliance with security standards
- Proactively notify customers of changes that could impact AIS accreditation/certification status
- Conduct AIS self-inspections, provide security coordination, and review system test plans to identify vulnerabilities and implement effective countermeasures
- Serve as a customer representative on various technical review and inspection teams
- Conduct security surveys at subordinate facilities, gathering essential documentation for system accreditation packages
- Coordinate, prepare, and track AIS inspections, reports, and responses to maintain system integrity.
- Maintain detailed AIS security records and draft Co-Utilization Agreements for network nodes within government facilities.
- Manage a centralized repository for all system certification/accreditation documentation and updates.
- Ensure the implementation of approved procedures for clearing, purging, declassifying, and releasing system memory, media, and output.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and disposal of AIS and network nodes in compliance with security policies
- Implement appropriate protective measures when incidents or vulnerabilities are identified within a system
- Establish and ensure data ownership and responsibilities for each AIS, including accountability, access rights, and special handling requirements
- Assess threats and vulnerabilities, recommending additional safeguards as needed
- Ensure that all AIS security-related documentation is current and accessible to authorized individuals
- Evaluate system changes, environmental factors, and operational needs to maintain accreditation and ensure proper certification for each AIS
- Perform ISSO duties in support of both in-house and external customers
- Assist the Department of Defense, National Agency, and Contractor organizations in developing certification and accreditation (C&A) efforts
- Review, track, and conduct AIS security training for team members
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance to team members, ensuring high standards are met
- Facilitate secure file transfers between local systems and storage devices
- Participate in self-inspections, identify security discrepancies, and report incidents promptly
- Ensure that AIS and network nodes operate, are maintained, and are disposed of according to established security practices
- Manage VTC system administration, scheduling, and configuration, providing guest network client support as needed
- Perform account creation, changes, and deletions while providing Help Desk and troubleshooting support
- Execute hardware/software system configurations, upgrades, and modifications while offering personal-issue laptop support
- Oversee media control and accountability processes
- Manage COMSEC accounts and equipment effectively
- Possess familiarity with security policies/manuals, ICDs, JAFANs, DoD manuals, and other guiding policy documents
- Capable of thriving in a dynamic environment and effectively collaborating with DoD, military, civilian personnel, and industry partners
- Working knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies, as well as data backup technologies, including COMSEC integration
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2007 Server, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, and Microsoft Windows XP/Vista OS administration, along with associated hardware expertise
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in arts (BA) or Science (BS)
- Equivalent 4+ years' work experience may be considered in lieu of education
- Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 (IAT II) within 6 months of the date of hire
- Must complete training on Joint Security Implementation Guidance (JSIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM)

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
