Key duties include:
- Inspect, sample, and perform basic tests on incoming raw material/ingredients, in process, and finished product.
- Submit samples and summarize data of internal and 3rd party testing.
- Leading Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP), training staff, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Conducting risk assessments and challenge studies based on scientific literature and risk assessment tools.
- Offering technical expertise to resolve food safety, sanitation, and quality issues, and supporting product launches.
- Designing, executing, and reporting on scientific studies that promote innovation, solve operational problems, and meet regulatory standards.
- Developing training programs focused on food safety, sanitation, and microbiological methods.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and revise microbiological methods and policies.
- Influence cross-functional teams to achieve results and lead initiatives related to operational transformation.
- Promoting a culture of food safety across their network through education and training.
Requirements:
- Education: B.S. in Microbiology or Food Microbiology with 3+ years of food/beverage industry experience, or M.S./Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience.
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of beverage/food microbiology (spoilage organisms, pathogens), and laboratory skills related to microbiology. Good Laboratory Practices
- Experience: Hands-on expertise with food safety for high-acid/low-acid beverages and thermal/chilled processing.
- Skills: Project management, problem-solving, data interpretation, and effective communication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
