GovGig is looking for a Certified Industrial Hygienist with Federal experience.
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) MUST be onsite for the initial testing and final assessment of each work location, and as needed for any hazardous materials encountered, and their duties include:
1. Establish work place exposure assessments in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and standard industrial hygiene practices to ensure personnel exposures are below regulated levels.
2. Review and sign the Asbestos Hazard Abatement Plan, Emissions Monitoring, Waste Characterization, Handling, and Disposal Plans prior to submission.
3. Conduct and/or review and sign all asbestos pre-abatement test results, working level test results, post-abatement test results, and clean-up monitoring in accordance with the submitted plans.
4. Visit the site during start-up of asbestos removal activities and a minimum of one time per month during all asbestos clean-up and removal activities to confirm that the work is being performed in accordance with the submitted plans.
5. Conduct final asbestos clearance sampling and submit sample data to the COR prior to asbestos containment removal.
6. Review and sign the Written Compliance Program for Worker Protection, Containment System Plan, Emissions Monitoring Plan, Waste Characterization, Handling, and Disposal Plan, Heavy Metal Exposure Certifications and Test Results, Working Level Test Results, Post-Construction Test Results, and Certificate of disposal.
7. Conduct and/or coordinate and review and sign all coatings background sampling, surface sampling, waste stream sampling, personal exposure monitoring, area air monitoring, peripheral air monitoring, and clean up monitoring.
8. Visit the site during start-up of coating removal and application activities and a minimum of one time per month during all coating removal and application activities to confirm that the work is being performed in accordance with the submitted plans.
9. Conduct functional testing of engineering controls, critical barriers, containments and secondary containments.
10. Exposure assessments to select or verify personal protective equipment or respiratory protection inside and outside containments.
11. Prepare detailed monthly CIH inspection reports in accordance with RSN 01 35 30-2.
12. Attend the Safety Program Review Meeting in accordance with the RSHS section 3.
Their qualifications are:
Certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
Trained in recognizing complex safety, occupational health, and environmental issues.
Knowledgeable of current safety trends, industry practices, and can exercise technical expertise.
Demonstrates professional level knowledge of exposure hazards associated with the specific construction activities and can provide best practices on mitigation and/or controls.
