Our client is a leading manufacturer of baked goods in South Carolina. They are seeking a Production Manager who has experience in a high-volume baking environment.
This Production Manager is responsible for the successful operation of all manufacturing processes in the facility. All Production Leads report to this position and this individual will be the key interface between daily operations and the other functions within the company.
Job Specifics:
- Responsible for all aspects of the safety program as directed by Safety Director.
- Primary responsibility is ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of all manufacturing processes.
- Makes decisions and oversees operational process execution to ensure quality, safety, service, and productivity.
- Responsible for the hiring, retention, and training of all team members in manufacturing.
- Responsible for certifying the training program of all positions within manufacturing and ensuring such training is regularly updated.
- Works collaboratively with the Maintenance Manager to identify maintenance issues in a timely manner.
- Responsible using lean manufacturing and other CI tools to deliver the production metrics.
- Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational process issues.
- Ensures all procedures, reporting, and policies are followed and has authority to directly address or correct any non-conformance. Completes or ensures proper paperwork, record-keeping, data entry.
- Responsible for performance reviews, introductory period (90 day) reviews, and skill level designation of employees in area.
- Analyzes results and tracks performance metrics.
- Supports daily communication with team members and leads within area.
- Supports three shift, 24-hour operation day and ensures seamless transitions between shifts.
- Regularly reviews equipment setups, center-lining, crewing, and other critical inputs to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations.
- Develops and presents continuous improvement and continuing education sessions to their team.
- Gathers and promotes continuous improvement ideas from their team.
- Develops, implements, and maintains metrics in support of achieving/exceeding production and financial goals.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an operations, engineering, business, management, or related area of study preferred.
- 3+ years of managerial experience in a baking production environment.
- 5+ years of plant manufacturing experience
- Experience withlean manufacturing or similar continuous process improvement is preferred. Strong orientation for continuous improvement.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office tools, Excel, and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated strength in production line supervision including hiring, employee development, performance management, day-to-day supervision, scheduling, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills. Can build a positive and productive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively manage projects and manage change.
