Roles and responsibilities:
The Laboratory Technician will perform routine analytical and laboratory testing to support food safety, quality, and operational teams. This role involves executing standard tests, monitoring instrumentation, and maintaining detailed records. We are looking for a dedicated individual who can contribute to the development of a strong food safety, quality, and regulatory culture while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine analysis of product testing to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Check and monitor instrumentation performance, run calibration checks, and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on analytical equipment.
- Document test results accurately in databases and communicate findings to internal stakeholders as needed.
- Assist in maintaining customer specifications and update reference materials as required.
- Ensure adherence to compliance programs for individual testing, including monitoring and documenting regulatory and procedural food safety requirements.
- Perform routine quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process items, and finished products independently.
- Support more complex experiments and trials under intermediate supervision.
- Handle administrative, clerical, technical, and customer support tasks under general supervision, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Interpret and document results in active databases and provide clear communication on findings.
- Adhere to safety standards and quality procedures, including reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Prepare routine reports and correspondence related to testing results and processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a related scientific field is preferred.
- Experience: 1+ years of laboratory experience, preferably in food safety or quality testing.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in documentation and data entry with attention to accuracy.
- Ability to interpret and apply food safety and quality regulations.
- Competence in maintaining laboratory instruments and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Basic knowledge of food and feed safety standards is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to handle laboratory equipment and stand for extended periods as required.
