Position Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned Audio Visual (AV) Technical Operations Manager to oversee our team of AV programmers, field engineers, and production engineers. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading a highly skilled group of professionals specializing in Crestron, Extron, and QSC systems, ensuring the seamless delivery of AV solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
Your leadership will be essential in managing the end-to-end post-sales technical process, from system programming and integration to CAD design and engineering workflows. You will ensure that every system is expertly designed, installed, and functioning flawlessly. This position is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise, hands-on experience with AV technologies, and a passion for driving team success in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As the AV Technical Operations Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead and support a multidisciplinary technical team. You will guide AV programmers through the complexities of designing and programming advanced control systems, primarily focused on Crestron, Extron, and QSC platforms. In addition, you will manage field engineers tasked with on-site installations and testing, ensuring all technical work adheres to the highest standards of quality and functionality.
Working closely with production engineers, you will also oversee the creation of detailed CAD drawings, system diagrams, and technical documentation, ensuring that these accurately represent the AV solutions being deployed. You'll provide leadership and mentorship to your team, encouraging professional development while fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
In this role, you will act as a critical bridge between sales and technical execution. You will be involved in client-facing meetings, addressing any technical concerns that arise after the sale and ensuring the smooth transition of projects from design to implementation. Troubleshooting and problem-solving will be a key part of your daily activities as you work to ensure that every AV system operates flawlessly in the field.
With a focus on Crestron, Extron, and QSC, you will be deeply involved in the technical aspects of system design, including programming Crestron control systems, Extron AV switching and control processors, and QSC's Q-SYS control platform. Your knowledge of these technologies will allow you to standardize best practices and workflows across all projects, ensuring consistency in delivery and reducing the time needed for custom programming.
Your role will also include evaluating and improving existing processes, ensuring that our project execution is both efficient and scalable. You will implement best practices for AV integration, from system design to installation, ensuring that our teams deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
What You Bring:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong technical background in AV systems and at least ten years of experience in the industry, with five years in a leadership role. You have hands-on experience with Crestron control systems, particularly in programming with SIMPL, SIMPL+, and Crestron Studio/Crestron Home, and a deep understanding of Crestron NVX & DigitalMedia (DM) systems for video distribution.
In addition to your Crestron expertise, you have a solid working knowledge of Extron control systems, including Extron Global Configurator and Pro Series control processors, as well as experience with Extron AV switching, scaling, and NAV Pro AV over IP solutions. Your expertise extends to QSC systems, where you are proficient in Q-SYS control systems, Q-SYS Designer software, and QSC Core processors, ensuring seamless audio, video, and control integration. Experience with QSC TouchMix and K Series loudspeakers is a plus, especially in corporate or commercial AV environments.
Beyond your technical knowledge, you are a natural leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You know how to inspire your team to perform at their best, and you understand the importance of clear communication across all levels of the organization from project managers to engineers, and from clients to executives. You are detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple projects, and committed to delivering outstanding results for every client.
While certifications such as Crestron Certified Programmer (CCP), Extron Control Professional, or Q-SYS Level 1/2 are preferred, what we value most is your proven ability to manage teams and lead complex AV projects to successful completion. If you also hold certifications from AVIXA, such as CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I, that will further demonstrate your dedication to staying current in the rapidly evolving AV industry.
Why Join Us?
We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plan options and generous paid time off. Additionally, we invest in the professional development of our team, providing opportunities to expand your skill set and stay ahead of the latest AV technologies and industry trends.
