Summary:
The Marketing Manager is a critical position within the BakeMark Marketing team. This position manages various marketing and branding strategies, marketing growth initiatives, product development projects and overall category management activities with the objective of achieving BakeMark’s sales & marketing goals. Thorough planning, execution and tracking/reporting of strategies and projects is essential. In order to be successful, the candidate must demonstrate strategic vision, drive for results, strong analytical thinking, creativity, multi-tasking proficiency, self-motivation, strong business sense and attention to detail. This position will collaborate with Sales, Technical Services, R&D and Procurement and strategic supplier partners to ensure strategic goals are being met and/or exceeded. This position reports into the Senior Director of Marketing, and upholds and complies with policies and attitudes adopted by BakeMark, following the guiding principles of best practices, as both a process and a cultural guide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated. Exemplify the BakeMark Ways of Working in all aspects of assigned responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.
- Manages strategic planning and execution of all brand and category initiatives and projects. Directly responsible for managing the expansion and development of BakeMark’s brand portfolio. Accountable for actively tracking progress and proposing changes and improvements as needed to meet and/or exceed expectations.
- Work directly with Sales, R&D, Procurement and strategic supplier partners to promote existing lines, lead new product development and establish new strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
- Collaborates with Digital Marketing and Technical Services in the activation and promotion of all brand and category initiatives, ensuring that all Sales teams are well-informed and well-equipped to promote BakeMark’s initiatives out in the field. Leverages brand/category expertise to establish direction and support for all brand/product training activities across the organization.
- Leverages market research, competitive intelligence and consumer data to identify the latest trends and new product opportunities. Leads innovation development with R&D, Procurement and strategic supplier partners to ensure BakeMark’s brand portfolio maintains focus on expansion through value-add innovation.
- Directly responsible for managing all initiative tracking and reporting, relative to the BakeMark brand portfolio. Works with support from Corporate Finance, to deliver scheduled reports to track established KPI’s for brand performance, category performance, as well as conversion initiatives and SKU rationalization efforts. Provides reports directly to the Sr Director of Marketing and SVP of Sales & Marketing, for reporting into the Sales Leaders, as well as the BakeMark Leadership Team.
- Leads the BakeMark Private Brands Committee and all related meetings and activities. Manages all updates and follow-ups on all private-brand projects, working to ensure all involved parties are informed to facilitate progress and ensure all milestones are completed.
- Follows BakeMark’s best practices in Marketing and BakeMark’s Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety rules, as well as takes responsibility for house-keeping and sanitation duties for work area and as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Business / Marketing Management from four-year college or university is required. Must have at least 5 years of marketing and/or brand management experience, preferably within the baking industry and/or a related industry (grocery, foodservice, food/ingredients manufacturing, food/ingredients distribution). Must have strong experience with project management and product development process.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business news articles, press releases, trade publications, trade journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, marketing copy and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of directors, managers, agencies, vendors, suppliers and customers. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is preferred.
Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to easily add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Must also be able to understand and calculate statistical data and business formulas, including rates, ratios, percentages, averages, basic costing & pricing, profits, margins, return on investment, etc. Ability to apply mathematical skills and concepts to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and follow-up on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must also have adequate working knowledge and/or experience with BI platforms, such as PowerBI or Tableau. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.

Work Environment:
Must be able to work comfortably in an office setting. Ability to travel domestically and internationally is required, as needed (potentially up to 15%). While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold, hot, wet, dry and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
