Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following: - Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
- Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Infection control & Cancer Registry Responsibilities: - Coordinates the development and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and planning.
- Collects and performs statistical analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of OSHA Standards/healthcare acquired infection data, including risk assessment, surveillance priorities, and outcomes analysis.
- Assists with the development of educational resources and initiatives.
- Monitors research and developments in the field of infection prevention and control to identify best practices.
- Participates in quality improvement activities of the organization and the department.
- Facilitates the surgery center's process to provide a safe environment by reducing the risk of exposure to blood/body fluids to employees, patients, and customers of the facility.
- Collects, compiles, and reports cancer diagnosis data for state reporting purposes on a monthly basis.
- Prepares policies and procedures for surgery center.
Minimum Education Associate's degree in Nursing:
