Position Summary: The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead sourcing initiatives across multiple categories to ensure that the organization achieves its cost, quality, and delivery objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing Strategy Development:
- Design and implement sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier innovation.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends and assess supplier capabilities in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with internal stakeholders, including R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and finance, to understand their needs and align sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Facilitate communication between departments to ensure sourcing decisions support overall business goals.
- Cost Analysis and Value Engineering:
- Conduct comprehensive cost analyses to identify savings opportunities while maintaining product quality and service levels.
- Implement value engineering principles to optimize product designs and sourcing approaches.
- Assess potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate those risks, ensuring continuity of supply.
- Monitor supplier performance and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and compliance.
- Market Research and Bench marking:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to inform sourcing strategies.
- Benchmark sourcing practices against industry standards to identify areas for improvement.
- Sustainability and Compliance:
- Incorporate sustainability initiatives into sourcing strategies, promoting environmentally responsible procurement practices.
- Ensure all sourcing activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Mentor and develop junior sourcing professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Lead sourcing projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
