About the Position:
We are seeking an experienced Project/Program Manager with experience managing technical projects for commercial and military/ government customers. You will work within a small business environment to be part of the operations and Program/Project Management team and work collaboratively with a team(s) of multidisciplinary engineers and specialists throughout the full lifecycle of projects. You will have the opportunity to be part of the company’s rapid growth. The ability to support and work on multiple related projects at the same time is advantageous.
You will be required to learn technical concepts in LF RF transmission and reception technology and employ them quickly. You will be expected to use your technical knowledge in conjunction with your program management skills to lead cross-functional efforts and deliver the best outcome for UrsaNav and the customer.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for project management, excellent organizational skills, and a keen interest in working within the international business landscape.
Conduct regular program team meetings to review schedule performance, cost performance BOM status, risk areas and customer satisfaction. Risk management is a key role of a program manager inclusive of documentation in accordance with the current risk management tracking tools.
Prepare for, and participate in, program milestone meetings such as Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), First Article Inspections (FAIs), Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and other applicable meetings. Assist the company program management operations by planning resource management and delivery schedules to meet company objectives and identify critical path issues. Close the project (archiving documents, closing expenditure authorizations) by capitalizing and sharing the project team’s experiences.
This position is based in our Billerica MA office with the option for a hybrid schedule when applicable and will report to the Director of Programs in close coordination with other functional areas (engineering, software development, field engineering, and manufacturing).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and closing of projects. Ensure all project objectives are met within the specified timeframe and budget
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders, including federal agency partners, internal teams, and third-party vendors
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and meeting minutes
- Identify potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Director of Programs, including scheduling meetings, coordinating tasks, and tracking project progress. Assisting in management of security programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5+ years of experience or a Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 3+ years of experience
- A minimum of 2 years of project management or PMO experience
- Demonstrated customer facing skill set with high level decision makers
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and capabilities with analyzing complex problems
- Able to proficiently operate a variety of IT tools including MS Office applications, i.e., Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Adobe products.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to motivate others
- Ability to manage multiple time sensitive projects and work independently
- Project Management Certification PMPor DAU Level II Program Manager
- Travel: This position will require travel to and from international customer and supplier sites. 20-25% during project installations and surveys
- Hands-on ability to work in a small business environment
- Ability to quickly learn and understand technical subject matter
Preferred Qualifications:
● Military experience a plus
● Experience operating on projects requiring security clearance and sound security practices. (Active Clearance is not required)
● Experience with projects involving technical product development for international customers
