Senior Automation Engineer
Our client, a global leader in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors, is looking for an experienced Senior Process Automation Engineer to join their team in CA. In this role, you will play a vital role in driving technical excellence and automation expertise for high-impact projects in pharmaceutical and biotech facilities.
Position Overview
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will lead automation initiatives, provide technical and instrumentation support, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, engineer, and qualify automation systems for pharmaceutical and biotech projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Develop department standards, improve current practices, and mentor junior team members.
Conceptual Design: Work with clients on strategic evaluations, creating engineering studies for facility expansion, improvement, or automation.
Automation Solutions: Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to implement ISA S95-compliant Automation solutions.
Detailed Design: Partner with process and project teams to design DCS, PLC, and SCADA-based control systems, generate I/O and instrumentation lists, and specify controls and instrumentation elements.
Construction Assistance: Contribute to IQ/OQ development, validation, and verification processes; coordinate with OEMs and third-party system integrators to align with project goals.
Qualifications:
Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience in Process Automation, with specific knowledge in pharmaceutical applications.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ME/EE/ChemE/Automation/Manufacturing) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
Technical Expertise: 3+ years working with DCS, PLC, and SCADA-based control systems; 4+ years of experience with pharmaceutical process instrumentation.
Skills: Proficiency in engineering design software, computer-aided drafting, control system network architecture, and interpretation of ISA standards and P&ID drawings.
Knowledge: Familiarity with cGMP and GAMP automation lifecycle documents.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, including experience interacting with senior-level contacts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Certifications: Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
Professional Associations: Active participation in relevant industry organizations is a plus.
Compensation:
This role offers a salary range of $120,000 - $180,000, depending on experience, education, and skills.
