Litigation Paralegal
A successful candidate would already have experience working in a fast-paced defense firm that focused on civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on class action law and will be ready to hit the ground running. Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research
- Update and maintain internal databases
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
- Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
- Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
- Liaise between trial team and internal/external third parties
- Communicating with retained experts and preparing relevant materials for expert review
- Help with voir dire, jury selection and witness preparation
- Subpoena medical, billing, and radiology records, employment records, workers compensation records, and other entities
- Prepare comprehensive medical chronologies and Howell analysis
- Summarize written discovery and document productions
- Conduct background checks, social media investigations, litigation history
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ recent experience in civil litigation – employment and/or wage and hour class action/PAGA experience required
- You MUST be competent and proficient in the use of Word, Outlook, and One Drive
- You MUST be able to navigate the web like Magellan
- You must be able to handle working with several different databases of information and comfortable organizing data
- Think on your feet and make smart decisions
- Your ability to listen to what you are being told and ask follow-up questions is very important
- Able to talk to people (employees, clients, visitors, salespeople, servers, the public, doctors, and people at the insurance company) in a manner that is polite, professional, well-spoken, and that puts them at ease
- You need to be willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle a high caseload
- Trial preparation and trial support experience is required
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documents, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
- ABA approved paralegal certificate or other relevant certification
