Electrical Product Development Engineer
Location: Grand Rapids
Department: Engineering
Purpose: Play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing electronic products that enhance our customers conveyor systems. Use expertise in IoT technologies and electronic engineering to help create smart, connected solutions that improve performance, efficiency, and user experience. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of electronic components and IoT capabilities into our products.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic product development, with a focus on IoT applications.
- Experience in designing electronics for conveyor systems or similar industrial applications is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift to 50lbs.
- Proficiency in electronic circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded systems. Strong understanding of IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, HTTP, CoAP) and wireless communication technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee).
- Experience with design and simulation tools such as Altium Designer, MATLAB, or similar.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python) for embedded system would be a plus.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the design and development of electronic products and systems for conveyor applications, including sensors, controllers, and communication modules. Ensure that products meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
- Implementing and optimize IoT technologies for real-time monitoring, data acquisition, and system control. Develop and integrate wireless communication protocols and cloud-based solutions to enhance product functionality.
- Developing prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate designs and ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during development and testing phases.
- Working closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration of electronic components with mechanical systems and software applications.
- Creating and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals. Ensure all technical documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance product performance and development processes.
