Job Description: Mid/Senior Test Engineer

What we are looking for: The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of Mission Critical software subsystems, network infrastructure, and radio-telephone communications software and hardware elements to meet customer requirements.The candidate will conduct and provide support for informal testing, formal testing (FAT/FQT), customer acceptance testing, and other Test related activities. In addition, the candidate is expected to interface with customers and partners on a technical level, discuss system-level and site-specific requirements, and test plans/solutions.
Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:
- Create and execute test procedures including: functional (demonstration, test, inspection), maintenance/reliability, stability/load, performance, analysis, security, voice quality, and environmental tests
- Manage test environment for assigned Test program(s), including managing test scripts and test equipment
- Plan verification strategies and test specifications based on customer and product requirements, software and hardware requirements, and use case scenarios.
- Identify and fully document any defects/unexpected anomalies identified during testing with instruction of how to recreate the issue
- Review and interpret system and software requirements from a testability perspective
- Assist Engineers in reproducing and resolving identified defects
- Identify and propose areas of improvement throughout the Engineering process
- Maintain well organized record of test results and generate historical analysis of test results
- Communicate technical issues or project details with Test Management, Engineering, and customers
- Work with the Support and Engineering groups to help perform root cause analysis of issues found in the customer test and production environments
Qualifications:
- BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (at least 3 years) with IT and telecommunications hardware and software
- At least 5 years test-related work experience
- Experience in developing internal and deliverable test plans and test procedures, preferably for mission critical equipment, within a production environment.
- Experience working with telecommunications/telephony systems and related technologies (VoIP, T1, ISDN, POTS, TDM).
- Ability to write clear and concise test plans and test procedures based on system requirements and clearly document defects.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience with a variety of operating systems including Linux, Windows Server 200x, and Windows XP/7
- Experience with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark (preferred), Ethereal)
- Experience with bug-tracking systems (e.g., JIRA (preferred)) and Test Management Systems (e.g., JAMA)
- Experience with commercial performance, simulation, and analysis testing tools (e.g., VOTER, GL Comm TDM Solutions, etc.)
- Experience using various databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, etc.)
- Strong understanding in QA methodology, Agile/Scrum software development processes and project life cycles
- Strong written and communication skills
- Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects,
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Ability to communicate progress/problems to appropriate personnel effectively.
Special Notations or Conditions of Employment:
- Up to 30% travel required
- Customer sites for on-site testing and support when required
- Internationally to receive training at company headquarters in Vienna, Austria, when applicable
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust, fingerprinting, consumer/credit report check, and background check will be required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and obtain clearance to work on Government sites.
