Our client is seeking a talented engineer to join their team, with work to be conducted on-site at a renowned space research center. As a Flight Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in monitoring the health and safety of several Earth-observing satellites and supporting all aspects of mission operations.
The team you’ll join is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operational management of Earth Science missions for a prominent science division at the space center. Throughout each mission's lifecycle, from development and approval to execution, data evaluation, and eventual deactivation, this project team ensures mission integrity and delivers high-quality data products for scientific analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct operational shift work for Earth-observing satellites
- Evaluate spacecraft subsystem health and safety
- Manage data from the onboard solid-state recorder
- Verify and upload daily command loads and navigation data
- Execute commands for spacecraft maneuvers and instrument activities
- Address real-time out-of-limit conditions and respond to off-hour anomalies
- Maintain and create spacecraft documentation
- Support the training and certification process for new team members
- Keep Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) up-to-date
- Communicate effectively with other mission stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics
- Knowledge of systems and software engineering principles
- Proficiency in MATLAB scripting with at least 5 years’ experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
