The Service Technician performs the following:
· Maintenance, filter changes, trouble shoot, diagnose and repair on commercial package gas and electric, heat pumps, air conditioners, hydronic systems, boilers, controls and associated components
· Must have knowledge and ability to work with electrical components
· Be an expert on mechanical systems including: constant volume and VAV systems, refrigeration equipment, replacing compressors, chillers, boilers, etc.
· Perform all necessary rigging of equipment
· Handle refrigerants to EPA standards
· Consult with customers regarding problems or issues discovered while servicing their heating/air conditioning system and provide them with a written record of services performed or any recommended repairs.
· Work closely with the service coordinators and foreperson to make sure that customers' needs are being fulfilled to their expectations and in a timely manner
· Maximize customer retention and satisfaction by providing a high level of personalized service
· Participate in a team atmosphere between sales, management and field operations
· Participate in new sales as requested
· Be assigned to one week (7 days) of 24 hour emergency on-call on a rotating basis
· Perform additional tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must possess the following abilities and skills:
· A minimum of six years’ experience in the commercial HVAC field
· Have an excellent attendance record at prior employment
· Good written, verbal and listening communication skills
· Ability to effectively interact with customers and staff
· Competent in WISHA/OSHA job site safety requirements
· Project a positive image of the company and herself/himself to customers
· Good grooming and hygiene habits that are consistent with office environment guidelines
· Candidate is required to pass a pre-hire drug screening (after job offer)
· Good standing in union membership
· Must be able to conform to all federal, state and city licensing and certification requirements as applicable
· Ability to build effective relationships with customers, other field staff, management and office personnel
· Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or in a team atmosphere
· Valid license and clean driving record required
