About the Role: The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise for a range of land surveying projects, including boundary surveys, topographical surveys, and construction layouts. This individual will work closely with both field and office teams to ensure that all projects are executed to the highest standards of quality and precision. Building strong relationships with clients and maintaining communication throughout the project lifecycle will be key components of this role.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate field and office survey team members.
- Ensure proper execution of field surveys, including boundary, ALTA, DOT, municipal, topographical, and construction surveys.
- Lead research on parcels, rights-of-way, and easements at public and private facilities.
- Perform survey calculations, write legal descriptions, and calculate volumes.
- Prepare and certify plats, plans, and staking files.
- Ensure all project activities comply with Utilitra's safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain communication with clients, providing regular updates on project progress.
- Perform business development duties to grow existing and new customers.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (additional state licenses are a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in land surveying, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Trimble Robotic Total Stations/GPS units.
- Bachelor's degree in land surveying or a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for working with both internal teams and clients.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrains.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs in field conditions.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and performing physical tasks outdoors.
- Exposure to various environmental elements such as weather conditions, insects, and wildlife.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required based on project locations.
