Title: Senior Quality Engineer (Defense)
Location: Anniston, AL
Duration: 6 Months with possible extension
Job Summary:
- The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Sr. SQE) will work on-site at the Anniston, Alabama facility, focusing on Electrical Assemblies and Electronics.
- Reporting to the Procurement Quality Support Engineering (PQSE) group, the Sr. SQE will interact with suppliers to ensure product quality, leading investigations, continuous improvement efforts, and managing supplier non-conformances.
- The role involves enforcing purchase order requirements, managing supplier performance improvement, and mentoring junior SQEs.
- The position requires frequent communication with internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems, conduct defect investigations and analyzing defect trends.
- Lead and conduct containment efforts for supplier non-conformances and ensure traceability of actions.
- Evaluate First Article Inspections and Test plans in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Drive a "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base and champion problem-solving and root cause analysis with suppliers.
- Manage supplier non-conformance and implement effective corrective actions.
- Mentor junior SQEs to support their development.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventative actions for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering-related field or 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of education.
- 4 years of work experience in Electronics and/or Electrical Assembly manufacturing processes.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Proficiency in mechanical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 Quality Systems, and AS9102B First Article Requirements.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and relevant industry software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Defense Prime Contract environment.
- Experience with product line validation, test plans, and product qualification in the Defense Industry.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools (Green/Black Belt certification preferred).
- Familiarity with Toyota Production System (TPS) and A3 problem-solving tool.
- Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) preferred.
