AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. (“AEGIS”) has an immediate opening for an Underwriting Business Systems Analyst that is a resource within the Underwriting Division conducting business and data analysis. This includes supporting requests for data, reports, and Underwriting system functionality. The analyst will ensure that the business need is accurately documented and aligns with workflow processing and strategic business goals. The analyst will interact with all Underwriting end users, as well as business subject matter experts in Claims, Accounting, Actuary, Loss Control, and Information Technology to research, analyze, and document current and future requirements for all Underwriting systems.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in systems development or related field; experience in strategic thinking with relationship management and participation in multi discipline; high-performance work teams a plus
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience; degree in insurance, computer science, analytics, or related field desired
- Experience working in property and casualty insurance, which includes working with underwriting policy writing systems, knowledge of customer relationship management systems and reporting desired
- Experience with MS Office Suite, Microsoft Access, and SharePoint, proficiency with advanced functions in Excel
- Demonstrated ability to manage time while working on multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment, and make necessary decisions to complete assigned tasks
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with IT and various business divisions; in depth understanding of both systems development and business processes is necessary to resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data from multiple sources
- Working knowledge of underwriting business functions and needs

Essential Job Functions:
Business Analysis
- Elicit, analyze, document requirements for system application changes including downstream or reporting implications
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts to identify process improvements and enhancements
- Function as the liaison between Underwriting and IT for system application changes or issue fixes
- Collaborate with IT to implement system solutions
- Complete user acceptance testing, including creating robust test scenarios and documenting test cases and results
- Create relevant User Guides, Procedures and Protocols to support system functionality
- Conduct training to business users as needed
Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and report data from external data sources (S&P, EIA, and other data sources) and working with Product Line Managers in leveraging this data within the Underwriting process
- Integrate insights from external data and connect with the Company’s internal processes and Underwriting procedures
- Detect and classify key takeaways, trends, and conclusions from the data analyses and summarize conclusions for Underwriting management team
- Collaborate with IT to implement system solutions to leverage the data that is manually captured and maintained
Data Maintenance and Reporting
- Gather, evaluate, and report on the Company’s internal data collected from source business applications (Underwriting, Dams, Claims data, Loss Control data, etc.) and identify ways to better manage and utilize the information
- Complete research on all new company information for new business submissions utilizing information from underwriters and other sources
- The analyst will also be responsible for researching and maintaining existing complex customer hierarchies and updating our customer relationship management system, which may also include contact and contact role changes.
System Support
- Expert knowledge of system functionality, which entails being first level application support to end user inquiries; user inquiries may be training issues or system defects
- Function as the liaison between Underwriting and IT to resolve system defects; this includes logging tickets, completing analysis of issue, recreating issue in test environment, documenting the issue and impact.
- Track production issues closely and keep business users informed of timelines
Additional Responsibilities
- Remain current on other team members’ job functions through cross-training to support group’s responsibilities and serve as an alternate when needed
- Complete ad hoc data projects for Underwriting
- All other duties as assigned

We expect to pay a starting salary between $77,000 and $82,000. An applicant’s placement within this range is based on their individual qualifications and professional experience.
