Job Title: Senior Project Accountant

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Project Accountant with 5-7 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project accounting, financial reporting, and cost management. As a Senior Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Financial Management: Oversee and manage all financial aspects of assigned construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs, ensuring that expenditures align with budget and financial objectives. Analyze variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Contract Administration: Review and process project contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Billing and Collections: Prepare and review project invoices and ensure timely submission to clients. Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Financial Reporting: Generate and analyze financial reports for project performance, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of project accounts, including job cost reports and general ledger accounts.
- Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Support internal and external audits as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support project decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in project accounting.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in project accounting within the commercial construction industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certification is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, contract management, and job costing.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with project teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and documentation.
