Our client, a non-profit organization that operates a community health care system in Haiti, has an immediate opening for a full-time Director of Development. Founded in 2002, the organization operates two locations that serve over 90,000 registered patients and is staffed by 100 local clinical, administrative, and educational professionals. To provide holistic care, their program includes clean water, agriculture, educational initiatives, and economic opportunities through employment. Working shoulder to shoulder with the people of Saint Rock, Haiti, they are moving towards a brighter future by providing community members with the quality health care they deserve and removing the barriers that prevent access to vital resources and opportunities for development.
Reporting to the CEO and President, the Director of Development will be responsible for the overall direction of Saint Rock Haiti Foundation's (SRHF’s) fundraising and external communications. This is an individual contributor role that offers a significant growth opportunity on a small tight-knit team. While the Director will not have any direct reports, s/he will interface with the Board of Directors, the Development Committee, and staff members.
This is a full-time, hybrid position, with the flexibility to work mostly remotely, with occasional meetings in the client’s Milton, MA office.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement SRHF's overall Development strategy.
- Plan and implement an Annual Giving strategy to support SRHF's operating budget.
Donor Acquisition & Cultivation
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, institutional, and corporate donors, focusing on building relationships and growing philanthropic support.
- Support CEO in developing and implementing significant giving strategy and individualized giving plans.
- Work closely with senior leaders on appropriate donor strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and cultivate potential new sources of year-end giving (e.g., stock, donor-advised fund, and IRA charitable distributions, bequests, beneficiary designations, and charitable gift annuities).
- Ensure all major individual donors are well informed, acknowledged in meaningful ways, and appreciated adequately throughout the year, including designing and managing thoughtful acquisition and stewardship events.
Fundraising
- Oversee external fundraising events, including coordinating with staff, volunteers, and event planners.
Tracking, Analysis & Reporting
- Track prospects and donor activity through a CRM/database.
- Maintain accuracy in database records and reporting.
- Analyze Annual Fund programs and prepare reports for leadership.
Communications
- Create an electronic communications plan including social media presence to enhance, complement, and support the Annual Fund and other development efforts. Oversee execution by support staff.
- Manage written materials, including appeals, quarterly newsletters, acknowledgments, and annual reports.
- Draft and edit proposals, reports, and briefings as appropriate.
Leadership
- Contribute to the success and engagement of the Development Committee.
- Develop fluency in global health.
- Represents SRHF by attending and participating in external meetings and events.
Qualifications
- Must be within 1.5 hours commuting distance from Milton, MA
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years' experience working in an annual giving, institutional giving or related fundraising role
- International Development experience a plus
- Enthusiasm for SRHF mission
- Passion for issues of social justice on an international level
- Donor-focused mindset
- Fundraising event planning experience a plus
- Experience using donor management/prospect tracing software (CRM); Salesforce a plus
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Business Products
- Demonstrated excellence in planning and organizational skills
- Strong written and oral presentation skills (writing sample will be required of finalists)
- Independent, creative, and self-motivated
- Ability to lead a team toward shared goals
- Base Salary up to $90,000. Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of education, experience, and skills.
