Selby Jennings is working with a notable financial services firm in St. Petersburg, FL, to fill a Lead Data Engineer position to join their Enterprise Data Team. They are looking for a career-oriented individual with a minimum of five (5) YOE in data engineering and expert knowledge in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), AWS Redshift, and SQL performance tuning.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and flexible data integration solutions that are both elastic and adaptable.
- Develop low-latency data integration systems to provide near real-time data access for multiple consumers.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, and Service Developers to create optimal and efficient ETL processes and database code.
- Deliver dynamic, data-driven solutions that align with strategic business objectives.
- Focus on designing, building, and deploying efficient and reliable data infrastructure to scale and support business needs.
- Contribute to project success by meeting predefined success criteria, including business goals, budget constraints, and capital expenditure requirements.
- Serve as an Application Support specialist for critical production systems, optimizing batch processes to meet defined SLA requirements.
- Take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed to ensure project and business success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, with at least five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Five (5) years of experience as a Data Engineer.
- Knowledge of the Financial Services industry preferred, however. substantial data exposure in another industry (such as Health Care) would suffice.
- ETL Expertise: Advanced proficiency with ETL tools; experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is a must.
- Data Volume: Has delt with data loads with volumes that are equal or greater than 10-15 million records/day.
- Database Platforms: Extensive experience with database platforms; expertise in Oracle and AWS Redshift is a must.
- SQL Optimization: Expert in SQL tuning, optimizing ETL processes, and physical database optimization.
- SRE Concepts: Strong familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering practices, including evaluating and implementing monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, DataDog, and CloudWatch, as well as job, log, and dashboard management for customer support and application health monitoring.
- AWS Services: Knowledge of AWS services and tools such as Terraform, DMS, S3, Spark, Python, Glue, and EMR is highly desirable.
