Position: PROJECT CONTROLS COST ANALYSTS - SENIOR & JUNIOR (Multiple Opportunities) Pharma / Life Sciences Project Controls Cost Analyst
Location: Springfield, NJ AREA OR Linden, NJ AREA
Position Summary:
The Spear Group has excellent opportunities for Junior and Senior Project Controls Cost Analysts to work in the dynamic Life Sciences / BioPharma industry. These roles will support a project or a portfolio of projects for the owner’s high-profile facility located in the Springfield, NJ OR Linden, NJ areas. These positions interface with all phases of project execution primarily managed by EPCM firms and constructed by intergraded Trade Partners/Subcontractors. The position will focus on all phases of the Staged Gate review process, from inception to project close-out. The successful candidate will be client / owner facing with proven communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare all monthly Project Control deliverables including the development of cash flow projections, forecast tracking, and estimate development for both cost and schedule objectives. Interface with EPCM Project Control personnel to ensure timely communication and support of project reporting requirements:
- Prepares specific budgets, plans, schedules, forecasts, and change management in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures. Assists in developing the requirements for budgeting, planning, scheduling, and forecasting standards.
- Performs assigned tasks related to establishing and/or implementing project control standards for recording, reporting, and analyzing performance data. Performs performance monitoring and control functions for specific applications.
- Prepares cost (man-hours, dollars, and quantities), and performance/productivity reports and variance analysis as required to explain differences between budget, actual and forecasted expenditures and baseline schedule and current schedule.
- Assists in developing Work Breakdown Structures as directed.
- Performs routine data analysis and development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as directed.
- Maintains continuous records of project cost status based upon input from the project team.
- Monitors and evaluates the effects of project changes including but not limited to trends, scope changes, and delays.
- Alerts the Project Team and Cost/Schedule Engineer of cost or schedule impacts.
- Participates in any estimating, scheduling, planning or cost related activities as required to support the project team.
- Suggests remedial action or “work around” to the members of the Project Team so that they can maintain the Project baseline estimate or schedule.
- Assists in Project close-out requirements both Financial and Documentation
- Effective Time-Management as deadlines are crucial in project management, making sure that everything is on time and moving smoothly is a critical part of the job
- Demonstrate excellent COMMUNICATION and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with all levels in the organization to ensure understanding of cost control and schedule requirements.
- Attend recurring and non-recurring project related meetings as required.
- Use of integrated cost and schedule data and then communication of project status utilizing dashboards, and detailed reports.
Required Experience and Education:
- Preferred candidates have knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry across multiple product types (drug substance, drug product, lab, large molecule, small molecule, etc.).
- BS / BA Finance , Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering, or related position major.
- Education and/or training in the management of large amounts of information. Strong analytical skills with the ability to review data and convert that to project-related knowledge. Understanding of cost engineering and/or estimating. Requires well developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding in Microsoft office programs, SAP, MSOffice.
- Working knowledge of Target Value Delivery, Last Planner®, Takt planning, Touchplan®, NetPoint® is a significant a plus.
- Proficient with industry recognized budgeting, cost control tools and practices.
- Ideal candidate is results driven with an Operational Readiness perspective, has technical capability in the field, and is a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of SOX and GAAP requirements, practices, and accounting codes.
Compensation based on relevant experience.
