HWA is seeking a motivated engineer to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to think big and creatively while handling the entire project cycle, from conceptual planning to construction oversight.
What You’ll Do (and then some):
- Project Management to include performing, or supervising. on-site fieldwork including bathymetric and topographic surveys, site inspections, data collection and analysis, construction planning, observation, and compliance monitoring.
- Independently design a variety of marine and coastal projects including seawalls, revetments, docks, dredging, and habitat restoration.
- onduct research and prepare feasibility reports to outline the development opportunities for waterfront properties.
- Participate in business development activities, meet with clients, write proposals, and manage contracts.
- Coordinate closely with clients and present technical concepts and alternatives to select the design which meets their objectives.
- Engage with regulatory agencies, oversee the processing of applications, and conduct pre-application and on-site meetings with agency personnel.
Required Qualifications (this will get you started):
- BS degree in engineering with EI certification and focus on attaining PE
- Comfortable operating a boat and conducting in-water field work and site mapping
- Strong and effective communication skills – both written and verbal
- AutoCAD design ability
- Microsoft Office suite of programs
Bonus Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Surveying experience: GPS, GIS, Hypack
Knowledge or understanding of:
- Sheet Pile Wall 911 by Pile Buck
- RMA 2/4 hydrographic model
- Flood zones
- Coastal structural design
- Permitting to include coastal construction control line
- Civil 3D
- Familiarity with the U.S. Army Corps Shore Protection Manual, ASCE Manual 50, Marinas and Small Craft Harbors Design, USACOE Coastal Engineering Manual
- SCUBA certification and diving experience
