Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Trust and Estates Paralegal. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing federal estate tax (Form 706) and gift tax (Form 709) returns. This role requires strong organizational abilities, a keen eye for detail, and excellent communication skills to support attorneys and clients in estate planning and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file federal estate tax returns (Form 706) and gift tax returns (Form 709).
- Assist with estate administration, including probate filings, preparation of inventories, and accountings.
- Draft and review documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
- Conduct legal research related to estate planning and tax matters.
- Coordinate the collection, valuation, and management of estate assets.
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and government agencies as needed.
- Maintain organized client files and ensure compliance with deadlines.
- Provide support for estate planning meetings, including preparing summaries and documents.
Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in trust and estate law.
- Proficiency in legal software and estate tax preparation tools.
- Strong understanding of tax laws, probate processes, and fiduciary duties.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with state-specific estate and probate laws.
