We are currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist for a contract in the Greater Chicago Illinois area approximately 45 minutes north of the city of Chicago. This is a 4 days a week contract.
Position Overview:
The therapist will work with primary and middle school students, providing services that promote their participation, independence, and success in school-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' needs related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and functional skills.
- Develop individualized therapy plans to address identified needs and align with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Deliver direct therapy services to students in group and one-on-one settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate therapy goals into the classroom environment.
- Provide training and resources to staff and families to support student success.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes, IEP reports, and other required records.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning sessions, and professional development activities.
- Adhere to all federal and state regulations related to special education and occupational therapy services.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current Occupational Therapy License in the state of Illinois.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with autism, developmental delays, and sensory processing challenges.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
Must be able to travel between schools as needed.
