Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Sales Executive with a proven track record in securing contracts and building relationships with government clients, including federal, state, and county agencies in Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of the public sector procurement process and will be skilled in developing sales strategies that cater to government needs. This individual will work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to drive growth, meet sales targets, and expand the company's presence in the government sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and Develop Opportunities: Lead efforts in identifying new business opportunities within federal, state, and local government sectors, specifically in the Sacramento region.
Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and procurement officials in government agencies to understand their needs and offer tailored solutions.
Proposal and Contract Negotiations: Collaborate with the proposal team to respond to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs, while ensuring compliance with government regulations. Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms.
Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and execute a strategic sales plan targeting government clients, aiming to achieve revenue growth and market expansion goals.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including operations, finance, legal, and technical departments, to ensure the company’s offerings meet client requirements and government standards.
Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in government contracting.
Client Presentations and Demos: Deliver presentations, product demonstrations, and pitch proposals to government clients, ensuring a clear value proposition of the company's products and services.
Sales Reporting: Track and report sales metrics, progress towards goals, and pipeline developments to senior management.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years in business development or sales, with a focus on government clients (federal, state, or local).
Proven success in securing government contracts and working through the public sector procurement process.
Familiarity with the Sacramento region and its key government entities (local, county, and state levels).
Knowledge of Government Procurement: Strong understanding of RFP, RFQ, and RFIs processes, GSA schedules, and federal/state compliance requirements.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make presentations and lead discussions with high-level government officials.
Networking Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders within government agencies.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends, client needs, and competitor activities to inform strategic sales decisions.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
