Schedule: Fixed schedule 7 AM - 7 PM, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric RN or LPN to provide comprehensive mental health care services to patients in a psychiatric setting. This position is critical in ensuring high-quality care for patients experiencing mental health challenges, promoting mental wellness, and providing support to patients and their families. The Nurse will work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, implement nursing interventions, and assist patients in achieving their mental health goals.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, including psychotropic drugs, and monitor patients for side effects.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention, individual and group therapy support.
- Monitor and document patient progress, including changes in mental and physical health.
- Assist in the coordination of care, including referrals to other mental health professionals and community resources.
Patient Support:
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Support patients in managing mental health conditions and developing self-care routines.
- Engage in community mental health initiatives, including outreach and preventive care programs.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and needs are respected.
Administrative:
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan and implement patient-centered care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid RN or LPN license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Will accept Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and RNs with experience in Psychiatry, Substance Abuse, and Medical-Surgical settings.
- Experience in Detox and Psychiatric Nursing is highly preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Basic computer and internet literacy.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must pass employment screenings, including CORI/SORI background checks if applicable.
Additional Details:
- This position involves a set weekend schedule with a fixed 7 AM - 7 PM shift on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
- Training will take approximately 4 to 5 days, starting with day and evening shifts.
- The role involves working with patients of all ages, including adolescents and adults.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
