Job Title: Cake Decorator and Pastry Specialist
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and creative Baker to join our team in a high-volume bakery. This role focuses primarily on cake decoration and pastry preparation, requiring exceptional attention to detail, time management, and the ability to thrive under pressure. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in cake decorating, a strong understanding of pastry techniques, and the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality results in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities and job requirements:
● Cake Decoration:
- Design and decorate cakes to customer specifications using various techniques such as piping, fondant, sculpting, and airbrushing.
- Produce high-quality and visually appealing cakes for special events (weddings, birthdays, corporate, etc.).
- Ensure consistency and quality in the presentation of all cakes and pastries.
● Pastry Production:
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, including mousse cakes, cheesecakes, tarts, cookies, and other specialty items.
- Follow recipes and presentation standards while managing large production volumes.
- Monitor product quality during the production process to ensure standards are maintained.
● Efficiency and Time Management:
- Work efficiently in a high-volume setting, with multiple orders and deadlines.
- Prioritize tasks to meet daily production schedules and customer demands.
- Collaborate with the team to optimize workflow and ensure smooth operations.
● Inventory and supplies management:
- Manage proper inventory of products and goods
● Collaboration and Customer Service:
- Work closely with other bakers and kitchen staff to ensure timely production and delivery of products.
- Interact professionally with customers when needed, discussing design ideas or custom cake orders.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Baker, Cake Decorator, or Pastry Chef in a high-volume, professional environment.
- Proficient in cake decoration techniques (e.g., piping, fondant work, sculpting) and skilled in creating a wide variety of pastries.
- Strong understanding of baking principles, pastry techniques, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for producing beautiful and delicious products.
Availability and Physical Demands:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Standing and Movement: Must be able to stand for the entirety of the shift (8-10 hours), and perform tasks that require physical stamina, including lifting, bending, and reaching.
- Cleaning and maintenance: Participate in daily cleaning, maintenance and sanitation of the workstations, kitchen and baking equipment such as baking ovens, mixers, and decorating tools.
Preferred:
- Formal culinary or pastry training.
- Professional Experience with specialty cake designs, wedding cakes, and large-scale pastry production. (must have at least 3 years of experience)
