Located in our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility. The Project Manager oversees and manages the work of our large-scale mechanical projects throughout the Chicagoland area. This will require an individual that possesses multiple talents: design & engineering, estimating, project management, and entrepreneurial business skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Estimate & manage plumbing and full turn-key projects of varying sizes.
- Manage internal project accounting requirements and prepare routine financial updates.
- Manage and establish growth through existing AMS clients which will be provided as well as the pursuit of new and prospective clients.
- Participation in general marketing through associations, affiliations, and personal contacts. AMS encourages networking from time to time, which requires attendance at functions that occur after hours and on weekends.
- Assist and complement the administration and support services of the department to achieve maximum quality, efficiencies, and optimum growth, as well as corporate profitability.
- Initiate a turnover meeting with estimating to review all the attributes of the AMS estimate and collate the information into an executable format, incorporating the AMS Pre-Job Planning program 'Estimating to Project Manager' and mobilization programs.
- Once the data has been formatted for the field, facilitate a meeting with the respective project team, which would include the Lead Site Supervisor, General Superintendent, Safety Manager, Engineering and Design (if applicable), Fabrication Foreman (if applicable), and Assistant to the PM. Discuss constructability, cost code profile, change management, organizational reporting structure, methods of productivity measurement, fabrication opportunities, logistics, and job site documentation requirements. Follow the outline of the AMS Pre-Job Planning process “Project Management to Field.”
- Provide leadership for the cost management, cash flow and cost projections as required by corporate policy.
- Review and understand the legal contract documents (3rd party review is acceptable). Highlight significant at-risk clauses and notification requirements. Provide cliff note version to lead site supervisor as it relates to field notification requirements.
- Outline all safety protocols and incorporate AMS safety management as required, ensuring they are included as an integral part of the Pre-Job Planning 'Project Manager to Field' program.
- Visit projects weekly, walk the site, and review labor productivity with the Lead Site Supervisor. Meet with the client to verify acceptance of the progress.
- Manage all MBE/WBE/City of Chicago requirements.
- Support and promote the culture, philosophy, and mission of AMS with our clients, our field team, our subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Assistance in collections of A/R when it has become problematic and unresolved through our support staff. You are provided with an assistant that will perform pre-collection calls; however, it is your responsibility to work with your assistant to make sure your accounts are being collected in a timely fashion and step in when your involvement becomes necessary.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in plumbing construction including estimating, project
- management and business development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
