Position Overview:
The VP of Procurement is responsible for forecasting, negotiations, procurement, logistical support and managing the process of getting raw materials, packaging, labeling and supplying products to the location, on time and on budget. The VP of Procurement will be tasked with the day-to-day interaction with the logistics, distribution, and WMS team to help ensure efficient and cost-effective storage and freight cost; the procurement of all materials; and, as appropriate, negotiation of certain service-related contracts as may be required from time to time. The VP of Procurement will help ensure that the overall ERP & Supply Chain operate within all related corporate policies and procedures pertaining to the purchasing function, including developing strategic vendor relationships, as well as compliance with the advancing corporate purchasing programs, group purchasing initiatives where applicable and local codes and regulations.
Objectives & Responsibilities:
- Assisting with sourcing and building strategic partnerships with vendors.
- Identifying new suppliers.
- Negotiating pricing, contracts, and payment terms.
- Monitoring current and prospective vendors pricing, quality, reliability, and service.
- Assisting win developing strategies to drive continuous improvements and COGS reductions.
- Working closely with the Marketing and Operation teams to forecast production, inventory, quality and timing to meet customer demands, increase inventory turns, and maximize profits.
- Collaborating with the R&D, Label, and Operations teams to leverage vendor resources and maximize ROI partnerships.
- Monitor commodity pricing, addressing strategic product cost challenges.
- Design and implement systems, processes and procedures to maximize efficiency in the supply chain infrastructure to support the growth of the company.
- Monitor and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, claims, and quality issues.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Previous experience in the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- 10 plus years of experience in the restaurant supply chain function.
- 5 plus years of experience productively leading a team with a hands-on leadership approach.
- Proven materials & supply chain negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of success sourcing internationally.
- Strong regulatory cGMP concepts in manufacturing.
- Background with materials & manufacturing vendor quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of cost pertaining to products, formulation, production.
- Entrepreneurial inspired with a hands-on growth company attitude and perspective.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong sense urgency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
