Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the design, analysis, and development of our next-generation hardware products. This position will report directly to the Director of Hardware Engineering and will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs that meet both technical and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and analysis, hands-on experience in prototyping, and a passion for innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Design & Development
- Design, prototype, and validate mechanical components and assemblies for hardware products, ensuring robust performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings for new products, working with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, incorporating feedback to enhance design quality and functionality.
- Testing & Validation
- Define and perform testing protocols for mechanical systems, ensuring that products meet internal and regulatory standards for performance, durability, and safety.
- Conduct failure analysis, root cause investigations, and implement design improvements to optimize product reliability.
- Manufacturing Support
- Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability (DFM) and cost-effectiveness.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including BOMs, technical specifications, and assembly instructions to support manufacturing and quality teams.
- Innovation & Problem-Solving
- Actively participate in R&D activities to bring innovative solutions to mechanical challenges and improve product design.
- Keep current with industry trends, materials, and best practices, implementing relevant advancements to ensure product competitiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on product design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and experience with simulation tools for stress, thermal, and fluid analysis.
- Proven experience in prototyping, testing, and design validation.
- Familiarity with DFM and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with strong analytical skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with materials selection, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Background in electronics enclosures or thermal management for hardware products is highly desirable.
