Position Summary:
Socius Law Group, PLLC, seeks a full-time Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support a well-established complex divorce practice. The successful candidate will directly support one attorney and work with the firm's associates and other family law paralegals.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal assisting a family law/divorce practice.
o Experience with court filings and family law proceedings in Washington State strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree (required).
• Paralegal Certificate (preferred).
Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Maintain proceedings of the practice/responsible attorney through daily administrative organization.
• Assist in drafting correspondence and legal documents such as motions, briefs, memoranda, notices, etc.
• Participate in motions practice, responsibly and accurately titling, assembling, and filing all required documents.
• Regularly review and proof pleadings and other documents to ensure accuracy, legibility, and consistency with local court rules and practice standards.
• Communicate with potential and existing clients and others involved in matters.
Job Duties:
· Preparing legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and subpoenas.
· Drafting correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
· Assisting in the preparation of trial exhibits and evidence.
· Communicating with clients and others to gather information, schedule appointments, or follow up on matters.
· Organizing and maintaining client files, ensuring all documents and correspondence are properly titled, stored, and indexed.
· Assisting clients with completing forms or documents required in their cases.
· Organizing case files and maintaining records of key dates, deadlines, and documents.
· Monitoring case progress and notifying attorneys and others of important developments or upcoming deadlines.
· Coordinating with clients, witnesses, experts, and other parties to schedule meetings, depositions, or trials.
· Filing legal documents with courts and government agencies, either in person or electronically.
· Ensuring that court filings comply with local rules, procedures, and deadlines.
· Preparing exhibits, affidavits, and declarations for court submission.
Key Skills:
- Attention to Detail: Essential for reviewing legal documents and ensuring accuracy.
- Organization: Capable of managing multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Communication: Clear and professional communication with clients, attorneys, and others.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with legal software (Clio experience preferred) and technology for document management, e-filing, and case management. General computer competency required. FamilySoft experience a plus.
