The Senior engineer role requires proven experience with both various IT infrastructure technologies and supporting technical teams with escalations and complex issues, and as well as outstanding personal communication skills. Successful candidate will enjoy providing technical support to IT Ops as the most senior engineer in the team resolving time sensitive technical issues and helping execute projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist your team with technical escalations in all aspects of IT infrastructure
- Guide your team in the right direction to work in and ensure they stay on track to be successful.
- Plan technical training sessions and conduct them yourself if necessary.
- Ensure a maintenance plan is in place with defined scope and schedules and followed through including system’s software and hardware patching and upgrades.
- Oversee patching and ensure all activities are reported post-patching.
- Ensure required backups are configured and in place of all business-critical servers, data and network configs.
- Ensure backups reports are monitored daily and any failures are addressed.
- Perform weekly or monthly backup tests (VM restore, data restore)
- Ensure network configs are backed up on a monthly basis.
- Schedule quarterly WAN failover tests
- Lead major incidents to resolutions.
- Perform and document root cause analysis with an incident report.
- Lead infrastructure projects.
- Lead planning sessions for projects with all stakeholders and internal clients.
- Oversee implementation and provide technical guidance to IT Ops team where needed to ensure success.
