As a critical member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Clinical Registered Dietician is focused on providing specialized nutritional care to patients. The individual will utilize their medical procedures and dietary requirements expertise to recommend therapeutic diets, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include conducting nutrition screenings, performing comprehensive nutrition assessments, developing and implementing personalized care plans, and offering ongoing education to patients regarding diet and nutrition. This role also provides an opportunity for the Clinical Registered Dietician to engage in continuous learning and professional growth. Collaboration with Food and Clinical Nutrition Services and engagement in quality performance monitoring are integral aspects of this position.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Nutrition or a related field.
· Successfully Completed the dietetic internship accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) or an equivalent program.
· Registration as a Dietitian upon hire is mandatory.
· A current Dietitian License in the state must be maintained upon hire.
· Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Clinical Nutrition Management:
Plan, develop, and implement clinical nutrition services and programs in alignment with departmental standards.
o Conduct thorough nutrition screenings and assessments, responding effectively to consultations and providing tailored nutrition education for patients and their families.
· Patient Care Coordination:
Develop nutrition care plans based on initial RN screenings or follow-up RD assessments, focusing on postoperative care and meeting individual dietary needs.
Advise on suitable feeding methods, formulas, and meal patterns tailored to enhance patient comfort and fulfill nutritional requirements.
· Monitoring and Documentation:
Monitor and document patient responses to nutrition interventions, making necessary adjustments to meet patient needs.
Maintain comprehensive progress notes and coordinate dietary care with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
· Menu Review and Education:
Ensure all therapeutic and standard diets align with physician orders through regular reviews.
Stay informed on current dietary information, disseminating updates to medical staff as needed.
· Quality Assurance:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to evaluate and enhance the safety and effectiveness of clinical nutrition practices.
Manage the nutrition formulary efficiently, focusing on cost-effectiveness and resource conservation.
· Regulatory Compliance:
Adhere strictly to infection control policies and safety standards in every aspect of patient care.
Uphold patient confidentiality and rights, complying with ethical standards of practice.
· Administrative Duties:
Collect and input data accurately into hospital systems and complete all required documentation for clinical and reimbursement needs.
Participate in departmental committees and initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
