Role Overview:
COGS’ client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design. This role involves leading system design from concept to completion, including hands-on field coordination and collaboration with architectural and engineering consultants. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on custom, high-specification projects in a fast-paced environment with high visibility across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs tailored to unique project requirements.
- Field Coordination: Conduct site surveys and field inspections to ensure accurate design implementation and compliance with specifications.
- Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with architects, contractors, and other consultants to create integrated, high-performance systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare design documentation, equipment specifications, and progress reports. Assess alternative system solutions to meet operational and acoustic performance standards.
Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for residential, commercial, or institutional projects
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD and REVIT for design documentation
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP)
- Familiarity with NYC or international building codes is a plus
- Geothermal system design experience preferred
