RIVA AmeriCorps is looking for members across the state of Iowa to serve at a primary host site near their hometown. Member activities will vary based on the host site's needs, but may include:
- Teaching English, citizenship, digital literacy, or other skills to refugees and immigrants
- Helping refugee and immigrant clients explore career possibilities, apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews
- Providing direct service support and referrals to clients to help them meet basic needs and build stability
- Providing interpretation for services (Spanish, French, Swahili, Kirundi, Pohnpeian, Karen or other languages preferred)
- Performing client intakes, tracking attendance and service provision, and entering and reporting data to demonstrate outcomes of service
Qualifications:
- Passion for helping refugee and immigrant community members
- Desire to work in a human services capacity
- Reliable and professional demeanor
- At least 17 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be a US citizen, US national, or Lawful Permanent Resident
During service, you will receive: A living allowance of up to $23,000 (paid biweekly)
