Automation Engineer - Beaumont, TX (On-site)
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their Beaumont plant for a long term opportunity. The major role of this job is to identify opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the electrical and process automation systems. These duties will include the development and implementation of new as well as adjusting existing standards, structures, systems, and equipment. This position is responsible to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all improvement aspects within their area of responsibility. Incumbent will be responsible for reaching improvement through the application of the available methods and tools in conjunction with the use of technical and engineering principles. Responsible for coordinating improvement activities directly with the appropriate Superintendent, Supervisors, and staff.
- Maintain goal and project data bases. Perform trend analysis on the performance data as well as identify commonalities within the data.
- Participate and contribute to the achievement of department goals including goal setting.
- Collaborate with supervisors on subjects pertaining to the CAPEX standards, audits, failure analysis, results management, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Identify and solve chronic/repetitive problems and failures as well as reduce process variation by adjustment of electrical control and process automation equipment.
- Implement and coordinate CAPEX projects, and Improvement Projects.
- Contribute to, and support daily improvement management activities, which include providing timely and accurate cost estimates on proposed improvement efforts.
- Provide consulting services to the departments on improvement methodologies and tools. Design new and revamp existing electrical and process automation systems, and equipment.
- Provide support in implementation, maintenance, and follow up on the vertical and horizontal help chain.
- Assist with all safety activities.
- Provide direction, standards and performance metrics for discrete/continuous/advanced control, controller equipment and software, and the HMI
- Evaluate options and recommend process instrumentation selection
- Provide direction, standards and performance metrics for PCS communication and plant historians
- Troubleshooting and correcting electrical and automation related issues on production lines
Qualifications:
- Four year college degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or 6 years industrial Automation experience.
- Extensive experience in automation (PLC’s, Drives, Control Circuit Wiring) programming and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical IEC/NEMA and process flow diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PLC Skills in Siemens STEP 7, TIA Portal, etc.
- AC/DC Drive experience (Allen Bradley, ABB, Siemens, etc…)
- Basic level knowledge of network equipment like Ethernet Switches, Firewalls, MW wireless Radio’s, & Fibre Optic Systems
Compensation:
- 100-120k base salary
- 16% bonus
