Pay: $88,262 to $130,403/year (depending on experience)

HB Staffing is seeking a Public Works Director/City Engineer to join a growing and dynamic team!
Job Description:
- Oversee department operations, supervise staff, resolve issues and ensure performance through appraisals, mentoring and training
- Develop short- and long-term infrastructure plans, manage the departmental budget and ensure efficient use of resources, personnel and materials
- Oversee public works projects, ensure contractor compliance, monitors project timelines and budgets and handles construction and maintenance of city infrastructure
- Standardize department policies to enhance efficiency, ensure compliance with laws and promote employee morale
- Maintain relationships with engineers, government agencies and the public; provide technical advice, respond to inquiries and represent the city in public meetings
- Manage public bidding, evaluate contractors, ensure adherence to codes and regulations and coordinates city engineering projects
- Provide innovative leadership, collaborates with city leaders and helps coordinate special city projects and programs
- Ensure workplace safety, compliance with city policies and upholds the city's integrity, professionalism and public trust
- Identify funding opportunities, prepare grant applications and coordinate efforts to secure public works funding
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of transportation, engineering, utilities administration, including staff supervision, budgeting, and project management
- Operations and compliance of water and wastewater plant facilities
- Civil engineering methods and practices for public works programs and projects
- Understanding of environmental and safety regulations (federal, state, local, OSHA)
- Contract negotiation, administration, and public hearing processes
- Employee supervision, evaluation, training, and conflict resolution
- Ability to research, analyze data, interpret regulations, and make recommendations
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Skilled in preparing and delivering reports, presentations, and maintaining compliance documents
- Competence in using software for document preparation, databases, and communication
