The ideal candidate is an experienced transmission line engineer skilled in high-voltage overhead line design and proficient with PLS-CADD and PLS Pole. They bring a solid understanding of industry standards (NESC, ASCE, IEEE) and excel in both team collaboration and mentoring. Organized and detail-oriented, they’re capable of managing projects efficiently, ensuring compliance, and adapting to both office and field work environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of high-voltage overhead transmission lines, collaborating with a team of engineers and utility clients.
- Utilize PLS-CADD, PLS Pole, and other industry-standard software to prepare and review detailed engineering construction packages.
- Oversee the design of transmission line foundations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Select appropriate transmission line hardware and materials, incorporating knowledge of design codes and industry standards (NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ACI).
- Review and approve engineering packages to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to client requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting skill development.
- Conduct site visits as needed to support project requirements, coordinating with clients and team members on design specifications and project timelines.
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program (required).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of direct consultant experience in designing high-voltage overhead transmission lines.
- Extensive experience with PLS-CADD and PLS Pole for transmission line design.
- Proficiency in the design and review of transmission line construction packages and foundations.
- Strong understanding of transmission line hardware, materials, and applicable industry standards (NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ACI).
