LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Safety Technician for their client with locations in Sanilac and Huron County. The Safety Technician will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety programs and procedures. This role involves conducting safety inspections, training employees, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Document findings and recommend corrective actions to address safety issues.
- Follow up on corrective actions to ensure they are implemented effectively.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents.
- Collaborate with the safety manager and other stakeholders to develop and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Conduct safety training sessions and educational programs for employees to promote awareness of safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees are knowledgeable about proper safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain records of employee training and certifications.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS), safety manuals, and emergency response plans.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory inspections and audits.
- Support the development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to management.
- Assist in the development and execution of emergency response plans and drills.
- Respond to emergencies and provide support as needed to ensure the safety of employees and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Safety Technician or in a similar safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, Certified Safety Professional - CSP).
- Experience with safety management systems and software.
- Familiarity with industry-specific safety standards and practices.
