Job Summary:
The Gameplay Engineer will play a critical role in developing gameplay systems and mechanics for Gylee Games’ upcoming collectible card game. Working closely with designers and artists, you’ll translate ideas into functional, engaging experiences while maintaining balance, performance, and adaptability across various platforms. Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, and implement gameplay mechanics, focusing on the strategic elements of a collectible card game.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to bring game features from concept to completion.
- Ensure smooth, balanced gameplay by implementing complex card interactions, rules, and effects.
- Optimize game performance and work to make gameplay mechanics scalable and modular for future updates.
- Debug, test, and refine gameplay systems to maintain quality and consistency.
- Stay updated with industry trends, especially within the collectible card game genre, and integrate new ideas where relevant.
- Document technical specifications and system designs to support cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in gameplay engineering, preferably with experience in strategy or collectible card games.
- Proficiency with C++ or C# and experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal.
- Strong understanding of game mechanics, physics, and real-time interaction.
- Experience with debugging and performance profiling tools.
- Passion for collectible card games and knowledge of what makes strategic gameplay engaging and enjoyable.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
